I am on the cover of the January/February issue of YogaChicago Magazine! I'm thrilled and honored to be rocking the front page. Many thanks to Sharon Steffensen for honoring me this way. I feel like this is a Mia Park centric issue. I'm on the cover & am featured teacher. My interview with my beloved teacher, Rod Stryker, is in this issue, as well as a photo of me describing how to do a posture. I'm a little embarrassed at all the attention...and I also love it. Balance, right? I feel pressure to keep up this blog since more people may be reading it! I'm on it. More yoga thoughts, soon. Happy New Year!

Today is a very auspicious day, Guru Purnima. It's the full moon in July and a day where we honor our spiritual teachers, including our internal teachers.
Thank you, Rod Stryker, for your practical and spiritual guidance. You have the right amount of oomph to inspire me to continue my studies and enough understanding and compassion to make me feel comforted and not judged. Through your guidance and inspiration, I am becoming the person I should be. A person who honors and respects the divine spark of life inside of me, who is filled with gratitude and joy, and who wants to help others become the persons they should be. Gush, gush, gush...so much to be grateful for. I could write for so long. Words really can't express the love and thanks in my heart for my all my teachers, from my family to my cat to my guru to you. Deepest, deepest thanks. Ugh, time management is the most important thing a yoga teacher can do to get "everything" done. If I'm not on top of my schedule, my insides feel like an old sneaker cemented into a wall top with broken glass. No calmness or stillness to attract cute little birds or anything else to land safely.
Sometimes I can feel more in the moment, even when I'm busy. I had a moment like that fifteen minutes ago, as I sit on my gorgeous back porch, typing furiously away on my laptop. A little green bug landed on the inside of my glasses. I took them off and blew as hard as I could to remove him, but he held fast. I blew again and saw his teeny wings flutter with my breathe. I stared at him as close as I could (without wearing my glasses, it was kind of hard!) and noticed his microscopic head with the littlest pair of antennae on them. He was vibrant green and beautiful. I'm so glad he landed on my glasses or else I wouldn't be able to enjoy Mother Nature at her finest. When I'm super busy (and when ain't I?), I love it when Mother Nature or a person interrupts me. I'm reminded of how nice it is to pay attention to who I'm talking to and to where I am, regardless of how important I think what I'm doing is. I can make myself sooo busy that the moments run into each other and then a day is gone without me noticing the zillions of wonderful things that zip by. I do try to embrace gratitude for all the moments of the day inside my heart and sometimes forget that being in the moment means being filled with joy. And we all deserve joy. We're made of it! |
