Korean New Year Soup Recipe 떡국!
I LOVE rice cake soup, especially on New Year's Day. It's not too late to enjoy this gluten free, vegan optional soup. A great recipe is here. Yum! Use soy sauce instead of beef broth or fish sauce to veg out. Don't use too much or the broth will be too dark! Each rice cake represents one more healthy year of life.
Local News
Here's to your health and wellness in 2012! Here are local healthy ideas that I love:
Chicago School of Thai Massage offers Vippassana Meditation and Thai Massage classes every Monday. I'll be there next week.
Moksha Yoga studios offer classes and workshops in all styles and theories of yoga. Start on your yoga path. Why wait?
Healthy restaurants in town are listedhere. It's so awesome to have choices of gluten free, vegan, organic and HEALTHY foods. I remember eating a Gino Giant hamburger at my local fast food Gino's in Philly. One day, I bit into a hard bone marrow and haven't had beef ever since. Shiver. Use your intelligence to guide your gut. And eat lots of ginger, especially now!
And finally...my new band, Asian Girl Army, seeks guitarists. Asian women preferred! Email me with leads and interests. Rock on.
And finally finally...RIP to my lovely kitty, Zero, who I hung out with 13 years. Jaw cancer got him last month. Thanks for the mew mew memories, Zero Kitty! I miss him.
And, as always...

I am on the cover of the January/February issue of YogaChicago Magazine! I'm thrilled and honored to be rocking the front page. Many thanks to Sharon Steffensen for honoring me this way.
I feel like this is a Mia Park centric issue. I'm on the cover & am featured teacher. My interview with my beloved teacher, Rod Stryker, is in this issue, as well as a photo of me describing how to do a posture. I'm a little embarrassed at all the attention...and I also love it. Balance, right?
I feel pressure to keep up this blog since more people may be reading it! I'm on it. More yoga thoughts, soon.
Happy New Year!
